stompie Hi guys, just wanted to know from the experienced guys, what's a good pedalboard supposed to look like for a 80's hair/glam metal guitarist?are there some must haves?
AlanRatcliffe No real standard, AFAIC. as with today, rigs varied from amp alone (Likely a JCM 800) or amp and a Rat/DS-1 to or extensive boards like Steve Stevens'. A lot of guys were using full-blown rack systems by the end of the decade...
stompie Thanx Alan, i got the distortion sorted. But if i listen to some guys like van halen etc you can hear that lots of times they use some other effects too, that's why i was wondering if there are certain pedals that will work with this style nicely, like a chorus pedal etc? I've got a multi-effect pedal but I'd prefer having stand alone pedals.
LooneyAtTheGate Another amp they used is the Soldano. Definitely the Rat, lots of Chorus for cleans and leads.. actually for everything. Flanger for some rhythm parts combined with the distortion.
AlanRatcliffe Yeah - flangers were popular. Van Halen famously used an MXR Phase 90. Chorus on cleans sometimes.
