Hi there, I'm a user and fan of the Tonelab SE, but recently I've come to regard the second expression pedal as unecessary, and the pedal is a bit BIG
So I'm considering "upgrading" (downgrading?) to the new smaller EX
One thing worries me - there isn't a VR gain control (the gain/saturation of the simulated power tube section).
Can anyone comment on that? Does the new Tonelab choose the best VR gain automatically according to the setting of the single available gain control ?
General impressions on the Tonelabs or Tonelab EX in particular?
Thanks!

Interesting note:
Surprisingly, with the SE, I find that the smoother more natural tones are often to be had with a lower VR gain setting.
But the point is one can set it - and to me it's an integral part of getting the sound just right on the SE.

I had the ST , very good pedals imo, good tones. The ST just isn't very conducive for stage playing.
Seems to be quite a bit of effort to go through just to reduce the size of the unit. Even if you don't use the second expression right now, that may change in the future.
