Cable solutions - PedalSnake...something to consider??

Dingwall

I usually run all my pedals into the front end of my amp but recently tried the FX loop and was impressed with the results. Problem is that I would need to run 2 further cables from my amp and this is putting me off!

Then I discovered this:

A one cable solution for running both cables and power! Looks good to me...

But if this is so amazing why does it appear to be the only one of it's sort out there. Surely there would be loads of this kind of thing?!

Let me know what you pedal guys think and whether there are any other solutions?

Snakes generally do make sense to tidy up cable chaos in any application. The only downside is they do tend to be expensive and they are cables like any other - with a limited lifespan - and when the channels start going (8-10 years with quality cable, IME)... it's replacement time.

Also, I see on Pedalsnake.com they mention "Soft, Thin, and Flexible", which to the audio engineer side of my brain reads as "soft, thin and easily damaged". There is a reason audio snakes for stage use are armoured - especially in light of not being able to replace single channels.

So - good idea in theory, but I'm not completely convinced of the specific brand. You could make your own similar thing just by bundling cables with a generous application of cable ties - and while it will be bulkier, you could still replace faulty channels.
