Unfortunately this is only for those on Facebook:
GFSA member Igor - founder/songwriter/guitarist/vocalist.
It's quite metal so non-metalers maybe turn your volume down a bit.

Watched the vid, really awesome - u play for marching dead now??
AlanRatcliffe
Didn't like the music, but the video quality is great and it's a great metal recording. Kudos. You the one with the hair?
Martyr
brutal....... ?
is the fake blood on the faces necessary though?(IMO) :-[
i prefer The Horrorcast,sorry dean ?
deanBailey
@ Quinus: I session for them till they find a guitarist, Igor's a fussy bastard though ?. The Horror Cast are disbanded as far as I know. The last show will be posted soon.
@ Alan: Perfectly understandable ? I can definitely see why most people wouldn't like it. Yeah the faceless-hair-tossing guy on the left is me lol. I honestly dunno why I need makeup lol after seeing that.
@ Wezz: Yeah I used to play as a session guitarist for them I think like two years ago before they found a guitarist. I couldn't do the the fake blood at first as it took me a while to get used to but it grew on me and got 'cooler' because I'm a fan of zombies. The makeup gets used for every show too so you can imagine the process before any show. ???
As far as I've heard (and not just played in) Marching Dead are probably the tightest live metal band in the country. The drummer Adriaan Cronje won the fastest drummer comp at the Paul Bothner's fastest drummer comp and is sponsored by Zildjian. (Thought I'd add that random advertising in there :-[)
Martyr
no doubt you guys are really tight.....i just prefer horrocast's music more ?
i'd listen to this stuff, but if you gave me horrorcast's CD or this CD i'd probably go for horrorcast ?
oh and btw i'm assuming you recorded this?if you did,it's AMAZING!!!!!!! ?
deanBailey
lol nah actually Igor did, he's a qualified engineer aswell.
I prefer a lot more dynamics compared to the consistent metal sound but we're both kinda anal about perfect playing.
"You can't play to a click track? you can't play!" >☹
Martyr
got a link to anything you've done recording for?like a band or something?
deanBailey
I'm working on my portfolio at the moment, might take a while.
Although everything up untill now (imo) hasn't been up to scratch. I'm sure most engineers can agree that it's quite a priviledge to get a band in your studio that can actually play perfectly ?
Shredder3211
i like the horrorcast more aswell, maybe if the guitar tone was more distorted_i dunno, the guitars tone sounds bit 'soft' maybe its just me.
Martyr
it's got nothing to do with the guitar's tone.....dean's tone seems similar in both the haorrorcast and marching dead....
the writing style is alot different, that's probably it,i prefer horrorcast BUT this isn't bad at all ?
deanBailey
I'll see if Ican get Igor to comment on the video/songs production.
Regarding songs, this is probably the second most "listenable" song the have imo, their other songs have time signatures and speeds that will throw some people off their chair. (I won't mention Norio's name ?)
Igor
Thanks Dean for trying to cover for me, haha!
@ Alan - I don't like you're music either so, we're cool
@ Wezz - I prefer Marching Dead above THC so, we're cool
@ Quinus - I don't like your tone (and aparently you've got a SLO100 - go figure) so, we're cool too
ANYWAYS, I think it's all kinda funny 'cause the video took 5 hours to shoot, one afternoon to edit and cost in total R500 (five houndred rand).
We've allready surpassed any and all other metal videos made locally (I know, a bit over confident), so wtf is the other people doing!?
I think the topic here should be the poor standard in SA's music industry.
Why doesn't everybody's video or recording productions look and sound good or, atleast, better. You can't blame money, you can't blame technology.
I've ranted alot about this and people always treat me like I'm arrogant, but I'm not trying to say I'm good at all. I'm tryimg to say we can all be alot better.

You mean quality of the video? Maybe it's more a case of there are good videos out there - but they are not getting airplay (just like there's lot of music not getting on the radio). Maybe a lot of the bands don't bother to produce video because their only outlet is the crappy quality YouTube.

Well, most don't have the access to the facilities to produce a good video for R500. Or even R5K. Speaking of which - how
did you produce it for R500?
I'm tryimg to say we can all be alot better.
Amen.

you should,it's your band :?
deanBailey
I edited my first post, with the crew and their names. I forgot to add that :-[
@ Alan: The company that did the Marching Dead video, did the "Warwick - Sweet Child 'O Mine" video too that Igor and I are in (dunno if anyone saw that) so we got the connection there.
I actually prefer Marching Dead to The Horror Cast tbh because the style THC were doing was going to die fast the direction that the current music scene is heading.

Thats pretty sweet guys!!
I sorta know Marnus Tredoux...he went to school with some friends of mine and he is a damn good director...Ive seen some of his other work too and its pretty awesome stuff!
