Looked up Van Halen just for fun, but they did win one. Many nominations, just one win. Only in 1992 mind you for one of their lesser albums iirc (For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge).
I wasn't around at the time but I don't think Led Zep qualify as underground - they filled massive stadiums didn't they? No radio singles and not much positive press at the time but I think they were too big to be underground.
Sure, not really the point but sure. Although personally I'd be downright offended if it turns out Led Zep won a bunch of Grammies. They're far too cosmically awesome for any such mundane rubbish.
Also, I'm glad to see Carcass never got one. That must've been a close escape. Har har.
