Engl was my original choice before getting the krank. At the time the Engl fireball was 9k directly converted excl shipping. and If you can find ways to bypass the tax/vat option you should be fine.
However from speaking to people overseas that have engl the best overall amps are the invader and savage and fireball if you're on a budget. Apparently the powerball doesn't really translate well instudio and can tend to get quick fizzy.
The amp Dave is talking about is the Randall RM100, I've had one in studio and can honestly say it's GREAT! really awesome metal tones, warmer crunchier tone and a sweet clean tone (depending on the module's you've got)
That's my little review at least ?
Like Dean said. Engls are really cool, but not really available. I know, cause I've been looking for them for a while.
I know most producers prefer the ENGL Savage 120 for recording, but the Invader seems to be the most "natural" "raw" sounding of their line.
The Screamer is supposed to be really good and can get real cruncy. The cheapest option I found was to import a ENGL 530 Pre amp and buy a second hand poweramp.
All in all, you cant really go wrong with a Peavey 6505 / 6505+ or a Mesa Rectifer.
What music do you play?
