Lethe I rate Mr. Ratcliffe is also a robot. Knows way too much. He's prob a database with some search function that pastes information into various topics. That's why he makes so little sense. And he has an Anti- Petrucci sensor in there somewhere too...

Vintage-Vibe Let's see ... 1000 members - at a ratio of 10 advertisers/cover-up business men TO every 1 real member ... GADZOOKS ! 100 members ! Well done ! VV
Renesongs I did a quick guestimate on the number of advertisers as against real members based on number of posts. Id guess that an advertiser would have between 1-3 posts after 3 Norio would have caught them So we have about 130 possible advertisers - about 200 members with more than 3 posts and 670 members that have never posted at all :'(
AlanRatcliffe Not as easy to guess as that - the vast majority of legitimate members (probably 7 out of every 8) do not post at all (or only post once) - fairly standard behaviour in any forum. Until we hit about 500 members, the bots hadn't really noticed us, so most members were real. After that, we got a lot of bots too - probably more than half of the new members were bots, but that still leaves us at about 700+ real human types (699 if you've been listening to Lethe ?). Something even more important to remember is the non-members who visit here regularly (they don't join as they are content just to read without taking an active part) - they often outnumber us by three to one. The last few months we have had around 350 000 page impressions a month, which says a lot about just how busy the forum really is.
Renesongs That's nice to know - cool so I am speaking to real people on the forum most of the time * Rene re-seeds his random phrase generator and sets lawn Lazars to kill * I just don't get the logic of people who go to all the effort to join a forum and just lurk. I lurk on quite a few forums but only apply for membership when I want to post something.

NorioDS Yep, sadly a significant number of our members are spammers or bots. I've got a plan to prevent future spam registrations but it will require some coding so we'll have to deal with them messing up our figures just a little longer. As for the already-registered spammers, I don't yet know how to pick them out but I'm sure I'll figure something out. Open to well-thought-out suggestions ?
