HI. Am I doing something wrong or is there not a market for Schecter guitars? I have been trying to sell my Schecter Omen Extreme 6 Special (with original EMG pickups) for quite some time now to get funds to buy a valve amp. The stores I got it valuated said I can easily sell it for R7000. However, I've advertised it for R6000 and no offers pending. Any thoughts on how I should proceed? Or should I just keep it?

I've seen a lot of metal bands in the Gauteng region shredding on Schecters to great effect and I can't imagine the instrument of choice would be so different down south. Just keep in mind that it's still the post-holiday broke-as-hell season, you might get a better response after people's paychecks have cleared. I'm definitely not any kind of expert on instrument sales, though. Someone else might have better ideas.

Na Norm .....I've seem many of the same Schecters on sale time after time.
Maybe they have a rap of being a shredders tool only.
From what I can tell they seem pretty well made, and could be pretty good all rounder with some tame pickups
but what do I know :?

in Za , we like to buy new ....dunno why but second hand is viewed as inferior ....
might hold true for cars but should not hold true for guitars ...
some great deals out there currently ...at prices less than 50% of retail and still the stuff does nto sell

There doesn't seem to be the same interest in Schecter in the Cape (or ESP for that matter), but I do think the market is more the issue ATM - I'm seeing a lot of good gear at good prices sitting... and sitting... and sitting.
Are you sure on the valuation? A quick Google only brings up Omen Extremes priced between $300 and $500. If the special does not equate to the current models, make sure you mention that in your ad.

You are right Alan I remember an omen 6 being advertised at mid 2k ish a few weeks ago

The problem is that there are different models of Omen Extreme 6's: the one with the stock Schecter pickups and the one with EMG 81/85 active pickups (the one I have). If I don't find a buyer/close enough offer I'm thinking of swopping the pickups to passive pickups at a later stage. And yes, this is a very well-made guitar and plays like a dream. Thing is I want a valve amp so badly...
