Since when did David Seaman start doing gear demos?

I like this idea, no matter what the purists say. But, and its a big BUT - I wish guys like Peavey and Line 6 with the Variax would bring them out in different shapes - me, personally, I hate the designs.

I dunno... I can hear a lot of pitch shifting artefacts - very obvious at 1:07 (just after he says "Perfectly in tune" there's a glitch in the third chord he plays), also at about 2:30 it's doing horrible things to the bends (while he's saying how well it handles bends).

What they don't mention is it switches out the normal passive humbucking pickups when it's in tuning mode - switches to a hex system (has to be to shift individual strings different amounts).

Nope... fail. Autotune fail.

Closer inspection shows Graph Tech saddles, so it is a hex bridge system.

...Which also means they missed on the chance to give you the piezo output or a 13-pin output so you could use Roland's VG guitar/amp/fx modelling (which also does the alternate tuning thing - in some ways better - plus adding in all the other capabilities) or the GR guitar synths. The only thing this has that the Roland doesn't is the auto tuning aspect.

I saw one of these at King Louis... And hey, it works..... Sure its a gimmick but honestly for ease of use and stuff it works

Gibson brought out the Les Paul Robot self-tuning axe back in 2007/2008.

This was limited to 7 different tunings.

They then brought out the "Dark Fire", 2009 I think, a huge upgrade to the Robot with 18 tunings (customisable).

I haven't heard of anybody promoting them actively since their release, . . . so draw your own opinions . . . ???

The Peavey is interesting, but I would give a coupley years for them to sort out the bugs, first.

I don't change tunings enough to warrant this feature, . . . .BUT. . . . , it could inspire different avenues . . . . . ?

Maaybe... but I don't have advertisers either. ? The evidence is there for all to hear in the promo video. Cool concept though.

Completely different approach, as the Robot physically tunes the guitar. This Peavey does it via pitch shifting software (Autotune). When you turn it off again, the guitar will still be out of tune, so it's closer to the Line 6 Variax or Roland VG than it is the Gibson (but lacks the Variax/VG guitar modelling).
