Interesting news. From what I have read on the acoustic forum, fender acoustics really do not have a reputation for good tone. These new guitars will truly have a mountain to climb, because at that price point the competition is fierce.

Side note: Others may disagree, but those custom paint jobs are fugly.

well, from $2500 to $5500. so ja, they will have to be something special!

regards the paint jobs, personal taste hey! i quite like the engraved ones and the Joe Wood model.
the Sara Ray, uh, not much!
Then again, this is just on looks!

I dunno... I kinda like the one with the butterfly (???)
I do a lot of drawing and, if it is painted on, to get that level of symmetry is crazy hard!

Yeah I've seen Melanie's work before (One piece with tonnes of wolves burnt into wood is mindblowing!)
I must say she is a brilliant artist!
One of the few I enjoy who use media other than pencils, pens, paint and a flat surface such as paper and canvas
I think this piece will sell more for it's artistic value than actual sound qualities
I mean a few years down the line someone will try sell it off as a 1 off, Steinway hand carved Fender Custom Shop ? Lots of key words to attract buyers

Nice looking guitars, I while ago I met an african guy who burned pictures, landscapes etc onto guitars. Fender should hire him ? He also burnes pics and landscapes etc on leather maybe they should design a leather covered guitar and have it "burned" as well ? Imagine a ostrich leather covered guitar with the big five on it 8)

Very nice, apart from the one with the Strat Headstock.

Somehow I just cant get my mind around an acoustic guitar with a Strat headstock. :-\
