Advice Please - Is it worth buying? Ibanez 1975 2387CT (Rocket Roll)

Hi everyone,

Gimme your thoughts on this guitar I'm looking at buying. It's a Vintage 1975 Ibanez 2387CT (Rocket Roll) - Based on the Gibson Korina Flying V.

The seller is asking R10900, do you think it's too much? Your thoughts please.......

I collect vintage Ibanez guitars, but R10900 sounds a bit steep......What would you be willing to pay?

I think that is very heavy, I just saw an actual Gibson Flying V going for R9500

Wait a bit that V won't be flying off the shelf too soon. As a collector I would maybe go R6000 but it better be in pristine condition with original case.

I agree - way too much. I know the Ibanez Rocket pretty well and it is a good but not particularly great guitar. Even good condition original Artists (which are great guitars) go for less. Personally I probably wouldn't want to pay more than about R4K for one.

If you're collecting Ibbys and really want it, I'd say keep an eye on it and wait for the owner to bring it down to a more reasonable price.

Gibson's Korina model ('58 RI) sells for a lot more than the run of the mill mahogany models. I presume this Ibby has a Korina body and not just some wood which resembles it ? If you decide to go for it you may want to change the pups to Gibson 57's.....don't think Ibanez had great pups in the 70's...?
