Do you really think, with all the time that goes into making a custom amp, that Benj is making huge profit?
He should be making enough for this to be a viable business.
Check the costs on importing speakers. Check the labour cost alone.
I have and it's cheaper with shipping to buy a suitable kit than to buy the amp out the stores ( Excluding the cabinet which is made of plywood most of the time anyway)
Transformers need to be custom wound. Please go find out what THAT costs too!
Everyone who knows, knows that you dont build even build your own amp because it will be cheaper than buying. Thats a fallacy.
well remember I was talking from a business perspective (a la CraigAmps and others). Where you bring capital and, on selling your product, make it back and then some.
making anything for yourself will
always be a "loss"... It's an expense without any monetary gain. But then again, so are groceries... But when you make and sell or just sell the parts at an affordable price, it pays for itself after a while.
And again buying/ordering direct from manufacturer (and in larger quantities) works out cheaper in the long run. And surely and amp builder won't bring in his parts one at a time for each build when it would save costs to bring in 3 or 4 different sets of parts together, especially when working against exchange rates.
You're right about it being expensive for an individual
But so is buying and amp locally with the markup on local musical supplies (needed to cover import costs and their paychecks...Before anyone complains)
