music periods....

We talk about music of the decades.... 50's 60's etc
But then people seem to jump from 90's and say now....
What about 2000 to 2010... That decade has passed, so what are we calling it?
? The 10's

ActionArnie

Guess 2000-2009 is the noughties and we're in the 10's now.

bottledtone

Duh... Of course not the 10's... I'm an idiot!!

Haha the Noughties!! Perfect ?

Norman86

yeah, i have heard it being called the noughties too..

When i was down in durbs recently, East Coast Radio (which sucks imo) had their advert saying the best of the 80's, 90's and now.

It's a recurring problem. We have to wait 7 years before we'll all happily begin using decade names again. Same thing happened at the end of the 19th C. People were happily referring to the 1880s and 1890s as the "eighties" and the "nineties" and then it pretty much stops until the '20s with a few half-hearted references to the "teens." Think about it. How often have you heard the WWI era described by it's decade? But immediately afterwards it's all the "roaring twenties," and the "depression-era thirties." People have been trying to find names for these two decades for 300 years and nothing has stuck.

Haha try '93 ? I missed all the cheese and found myself surrounded by boy bands, girl bands, hip-hop, east coast vs west coast rap, the occasional garage/surf rock band and madonna's 5th (8th? 9th? 17th?) attempt at reinvention.... ?

tiller

2000's. I hear it all the time ?
maybe we can think of some new calling ?
