After a failed attempt of using a Line 6 EX1 to control my flint (more below), i have decided to try build my own.
The reason the EX1 failed, was because it uses a TS connection, and not TRS :-\
Anywho, the parts i need are as follows:
a linear 10k pot,
a 1k resitor,
a TRS socket,
an enclosure.
now, what i want to do differently is this. i want to use a linear "dj" slider potentiometer instead of the regular linear pots available.
the only question i have, is do they have similar "connections" as a normal turning pot?
otherwise, im all good and ready to order the parts and make a pedal ?

Yup. Similar connections. Couldn't you just mod the EX-1 though?

sweet! thanks!
i thought about doing that, but decided against it!
Thought i would rather try build my own!
plus, im really keen on the slider idea!
i feel it'll work better in my head than a normal type pot which needs a treadle and some engineering skill!

Hey Norman,
Not to dampen your spirits at all, but I'd recommend using a rotary pot rather than a slide one.
It's damn hard to cut a long hole in an enclosure Vs 1 drill for the rotary.
The rotary pot is likely gonna be a lot stronger and less prone to breakage.
Also, because the innards of the slide pots are exposed, they won't last like a rotary one will.
But yes, I'd also put slide pots EVERYWHERE if I could find some heavy duty and borrow a laser cutter for the holes! ?

for the cost, im willing to take the risk ?
plus, its possible to get dust covers for the sliders too!
