Advice wanted please

Guys I need to pay a (private) guy in the UK for a guitar I bought from him. A friend will bring it over for me. Is this a normal EFT (via Internet) between me and his bank ? OR do I need to go via my banks foreign exchange division ? Anyone who has done this recently ?

Can you not use paypal? It'll be a heckload easier..
otherwise, you have to organise with your bank, and thats a schlep. Or at least, i would have had to do something similar with nedbank, and it was more hassle than paypal.

If it is a privat eseller then I think you'll have to do a money transfer. Something like Western Union or the likes.

Paypal is best (receiver pays the charges and they also have a payment dispute process).

Otherwise get his account details and his bank's SWIFT code. Then you can transfer directly from your bank to his (transfer costs fall to you).

Boet, PayPal is "life". ?

Just take your Credit Card and go register, it's that simple.
If you bank with FNB you can also receive payments into your PayPal account...with any other bank you can only make payments, not receive.

Btw, Vic, you can also use MoneyGram (Standard Bank) to send money to another country.

Then PayPal! It just works so wonderfully ? I bought almost all the stuff for my guitar builds using it without a hitch

Does the seller have some kind of business through which he can process a credit card transaction? I've done that before - bought some rare CDs from a guy in Bristol and ended up paying by credit card to his wife's florist business.
