Jazz & Blues Jam in Sandton from 6 pm hosted by Keira Witherkay

this is a "Swamp event" and hosted by me .....

it's our regular Jazz & blues jam session is on again starting this sunday the 13th .......

the venue is the Brazenhead irish pub corner of linden rd and anne street just off grayston drive ..it's in the little room to your left as you enter called "the library"

we start at about 6 ish but arrive from 5 30 ish to get the gear on stage .... so if you wanna play ... corner me when you arrive and i will show you where to set up your amp ....

it's aimed at getting jazz /blues musicians to meet and show off their chops in a relaxed jam .....

don't worry if you don't know the songs of keys i will bring some charts so the sheets are available onstage

it's a jam ..NOT an open mic ... which means as a guitarist or any other musician you will "sit in " with my band ..which features sarah kate on vocals, Ian brady on percussion and bass, Darryl Kruger on drums and myself on guitar .... music wise we play jazz standatds and traditional bues.. NO pop or rock (that is for a other nights )

briang from the forum is a regular player who jams with us and should be there this week

so if you wanna jam... bring your guitar a small amp and a cable...........

this is open to all players of any instrument.........

the vibe is relaxed and we have fun with the music........

Dammit, what a weekend to not check the forum. I'm really getting more and more into my blues, so would love to sit in and try pick up some tips next time.

Well you might be too late , when i started this in nov i thought people would jump at the chance to jam .... And thats why we included blues and not just jazz
as hey surely most can jam a 12 bar even beginners .... Butafraid despite it being central in sandton... The responce was poor so last night was the last one at that venue ... Pity

That's a shame - hopefully people will take up what appears to be a challenge if this is done again in the future?
Lack of responses on the forum seems to mirror poor response at the venue too - I wonder what the answer is to making something like this work?
