Neck Crack. Lacquer or Structural?

Hi Guys.

I just bought an 83' Ibby Artist.
Love the sound and the intonation is fine.

Just concerned about some cracks at the neck joint (see pics).

Is this bad news?

What does it look like on the back? It looks like Lacquer Crack. It is the spot were a lacquer crack would develop. Is the rest of the neck sound, I mean, it doesn't look like it's been dropped does it? (nasty dings or dents on the headstock or neck)

Was that the one on OLX in Pretoria?

Those old ibby artist's are such beautiful guitars (hidden gems).

Indeed it was. Thanks for the heads up. The crack wraps around a bit but does not go over the whole back

Almost certainly just finish cracks from temperature changes.

If you can pull the crack open further, then it's something to have seen to, otherwise not.

I can almost breath again. Thanks Alan.

Will take it in for a setup tomorrow and Grant at TOMS can take a closer look.

It sounds really good. Will post up pics.
