Also I'm with Alan here, realistically these days the guitar is just continuing to go from strength to strength, maybe not in the eyes of the mainstream, but then again those assholes keep Lil Wayne & Niki Minaj going so wtf do they know? :?

An interesting thing I've noticed is that a lot of current pop acts produce CDs full of sampling and synths and computers, and then tour with guitarists in the band. Sometimes you can even hear the guitar parts, so you know they're plugged in (or really good finger-syncers).

hehehe. finger-syncers... i think for me it must be the music i listen to, but i must agree with alan and chad - the guitar never left. thank the good lord, but there's still a market - and it must be a big one - for real music, made by real people, on real, old-fashioned instruments (which is not to dis the talent of those who can, and do, compose in different genres to mine, using different tools).

Yeah, but we here on GFSA may not be representative of the mass market.

If you listen to everyday rubbish(Briney, Acquilera, Madonna etc...), you wouldn't know that there is a lot of guitar music around.

I think guitar is not as mainstream as it was a few years ago (charts/guitar hero etc). That does not mean it's not popular and being a little more underground is no bad thing. I am hoping that all those kids that picked it up when it was mainstream will soon be reaching the age of influence and we might get a whole new guitar movement happening!

Guitar music was, is and will be the respectful music. It's just the matter of time when live guitar sound will push away the mainstream. Because everything new is all forgotten old? The same goes for fashion?
