72 Shows for Springsteen - not counting all the preparation and days travelling - that's pretty hectic stuff for a 63 year old, not that Madonna is that much younger at 54(also 72 Shows)

I battle with a couple of open mic's at TJ's ?

Can't speak for Madonna, but Bruce's band are pretty au fait with his entire repertoire now. How much time do you think they spend rehearsing, say, The River or Born In The USA?

But sure, some rehearsal including working out all the lighting cues and so on.

Shows like Gaga or Madonna will, I think, take a lot more rehearsal because of all the choreography involved, the costumes that need to be on hand, the extravaganza nature of the shows and the number of people involved. Madonna might not end up with as much dosh left over as Springsteen.

Pro musicians work hard and in this day and age "work" mostly means touring. CD sales being down and increasing piracy also hurts other royalty income streams, so touring is the way to go.

Apart from Jackson's estate being hugely in debt when he died, his surviving family don't have a lot of income that doesn't derive from Jackson himself. So expect this dead horse to be flogged for many years to come.
