Hi amp building afficionados
To let you all know: There is a amp building workshop happening in Gauteng on the 9th of Jan 2009. Venue to be confirmed. See www.marsamps.blogspot.com for details. Book a.s.a.p. 8)

Hi Solder slingers
There is a suggestion to move the Jo'burg workshop to 30 Jan - 1 Feb 2009. This will ease the preparation of the kits (more time), and more time for people to still book. The event is not yet fully booked, so here's your chance ?

Update on workshop: Happening on 30 Jan to 1 Feb 2009 in Gauteng. So far two bookings - one JTM45 and one 100watter (both heads).
If anybody has a suitable venue (or can suggest) for this workshop, please contact me. I need about 8 tables with accessible power points and good lighting. Also there will be sporadic bursts of high volume guitar coming from the workshop on Sunday 8)

I have found a nice venue in Randpark Ridge. Apparently the coffee and the chicken down the road is great ?

Don't you prefer chicken on a plate over chicken down the road? ?
Karel-Mars
You mean roadkill? Have not ventured into that territory yet. I might listen to Zappa, but my chicken must be on a plate ?

Anyone with a digital camera out there that wants to take some video for the forum on next weekend workshop?
BTW Anybody who want to pop in and see what is going down is welcome. Contact me for adress details.

Just a report of a now-completely-hooked amp builder who participated in this workshop: IT WAS GREAT and I would seriously recommend to anyone appreciating true Tone to go get a kit of your choice and to build it during one of Karel's workshops.
You will not only have a new and super amp at a second hand price, you will also have a chance to learn how it works, how to tweak it to your taste and possibly even repair minor problems. Cool.
I should have done the kit thing. Instead, jumped into the river to learn to swim and designed some concoction of my own. Parts missing, wrong spec power transformer and even changes to the schematic. It will sound great one day but it would have never gotten anywhere without this workshop!
