Just wondering as to their worthiness, because the reviews on the net are hugely complimentary - even more so than GFS pickups, the other great tone for less money pickup maker. The prices are pretty amazing vs Seymour Duncans (which I normally use) and are very competitive with the GFS pups (when factoring in freight and duties). Humbuckers and P90s are R650 each and Strat Single Coil Sets (all 3 pups) are R1650. Didn't get the Tele set prices.

I think I may order a few. Anybody?

I've seen them mentioned in passing, but have no experience with them myself and don't know anyone who has used any.

I know they're made in Au, and I also know a guy that swears by them. He's a really knowledgable guy and compared them to the likes of Seymour Duncans.

Well hows that for coincidence. I've just got back to Ballito from picking up my guitar from Rob after he replaced my Les Paul's pickups.

These pickups really are great. I originally took my Fender Strat to Rob to replace the bridge and neck pickups. The center pickup was a 'Tex Mex' so I thought that it wouldn't need to be replaced as it sounded the best of the 3 and was a 'named' pickup. Well the short story is that I replaced the Tex Mex as well. All my pickups are the 'PURE VINTAGE' model and they chime and bell all day long. The difference is astounding.

I loved them so much that I then took my 1994 Gibson Les Paul and replaced both PAF's with a P90 REBEL at the neck and a 'ROCKSONG' at the bridge.

Rob converted one of my tone pots to act as a coil tapping blender for the bridge position. AWESOME.

I have tested the strat pickups with our band and the added fullness and the smoothness is very very noticeable compared to what they were. I will test the Gibson tomorrow at practice and report back.

I wonder how the Strat (Pure Vintage Set - TRS1) compares to the likes of Kindman Tradmk2, Dimarzio Virtual Vintage, HS-2, etc...

"Uses a mix of Alnico V and Alnico III magnets" so its gota have a decent sound....

As I mentioned in my first post, R1650 for the set is what I was told. Considering a Seymour is around R1200 for one, I'd say it's a good deal.

Kinman Traditional MK2
Dimarzio HS2, Virtual vintage, and area's

If these ToneRiders come close to the tone of the above mentioned puppies for cheaper, Ide say its a good deal ?

I read a review on the City Limits Strat set on Harmony Central where the guy said he thought they sounded better than the Kinman AVn Blues. Don't know how relevant a comparison that is though.

Another guy on the Pure Vintage HC review page has a whole list of brands (including Kinman) that he reckons the Toneriders are better than.
