Hi all,
Check this video out and I would love comments.
My son is 10 years old and lives for playing his guitar. He would rather practice than play outside with friends and he is starting to get it together.
He played November Rain from Guns and Roses.
All I ask for is positive thoughts / critisism, so please don't nail him into the gutter
Unfortunately I do not believe the sound setup was perfect, and he did make mistakes during the song, but we are still proud of him, as he played in fornt of about 1000 people and the nerves got to him at times.
Not sure if link will show as hyperlink, but please feel free to copy if needed

I am sure others are more qualified to comment and I am sure they will.
But I believe you can be very proud of that young man! Weldone!

nice one ...well done to the lad.
one thing i do like is that the youngsters today who are into guitars are drawn to the guitar hero's and music of the masters from way back when.....

Agree with you IceCreamMan,
Funny thing is the son do like mordern music, but not into the "fake" stuff from bieger and gaga etc.
He appreciates good music, but he is big time into Guns n Roses, Metallica, AC/DC. He also likes Gary Moore, Queen, Lynard Skynard, Santana etc.
He just nailed Highway to Hell from AC/DC this week, and sounding good! Must still figure the solo out though.
My problem is that I do not have the musical knowledge to take him all the way, and private tutoring is quite expensive. I learned through this in the last year, and he did not gain nearly as much as I hoped for and paid for!
I am now considering online sites like Jamplay / Guitartricks / Justinguitar etc., as I believe he can learn more real world stuff there with proper examples at his own pace. any thoughts if right way to go?
He is also starting Rockschool Grade 3 in January
So, all I can do is hope that the flame / love for his guitars does not end, although I doubt it.

I can't get in - it's asking me to do things - code pops up etc etc. With regards your son - what happened with mine is - Standard 6 / Grade 8 (being 13) - and meeting up with other young guys with the same passion - wanting to play together hence improving naturally. As long as your son has some training going on which he will search for himself eventually I think he'll do well. My son could also play all the cool stuff by the time he was 13 - it seems like it keeps happening from generation to generation ? Great that he has a parent like you!
