Wits 4th year BSC engineering fees

Well my UJ mechanical engineering fees ranged from 18000 to about 25000 per year depending on what subjects I chose. I finished in 2010.

I know WITS is more expensive though.

I completed a BScEng (Elec) at wits in 2010 and if I recall the fees were somewhere around the R30000 mark.
It was a little cheaper than the previous years, as lectures only continued halfway through the year, but all the lab work at the end kinda made up the difference.
I reckon you can expect it to be pretty much consistent from year to year (i.e. first, second, third, fourth) in terms of pricing.

Contacted wits themseleves prior to posting and they were cagey about it all and here i am trying to budget etc....my thoughts were that it would be slightly cheaper due to lectures being only for the first 6 months but getting a ball park figure was difficult and i dont like surprisies....if its much the same as previous years then cool .... i just dont want any nasty surprises here ?

Na it wasn't shockingly more. Hard for me to say for sure because I took the five year plan and completed 2nd and 3rd years over 3 years...in the third one, I did one or two of my 4th year courses (like sociology and whatnot).

The lack of lectures does knock the cost down, but then your lab project knocks it right back up again.
What kind of engineering you studying dude?

It just so happens that I have been wondering this thing as well. My youngest goes into 4th year electrical engineering at Wits next year. Well, in fact he reckons that might not be so certain hey.

Yeah one of my good mates was in that position two days ago...he failed signals a and b and control, so he doesn't get a supp ☹
Oh well, such is the nature of the degree. Those signals courses, I tell you, you can work extremely extremely extremely hard and get to a paper and still not know what's going on.
Hardest thing I have ever done was my signals 2a exam. I would rather relive (almost) any three hours of my life but that one.

Not me , my lad ....mechanical engineering. i gotta wait ti hit the lotto afore i go back to varsity full time

but ok , if pricing similar to previous years then cool.....
