New rubbertubing for guitarstand ?
charleshaupt
Hi , i have a guitarstand which is about 15 years old, recently the rubber or tubing on the lower arm ,the part on which the guitar rests, started to perish. What could be used as replacement once the old rubber\tubing is removed? Thanks...

Perhaps you can go to a clinic or pharmacy and get that orange tubing they use to tie around your arm when they poke for a vein to take blood?
Or wrap neoprene strip around the stand - like the type you get at hardware stores to seal window frames.

Cool ,will do ,thanks C.

IIRC some rubbers react with some guitar finishes - either leaving a mark where the guitar has come into contact with the rubber or, as once happened to me, leaving a glob of something rubbery and sticky on the guitar. Not all rubbers are equal for your purposes. Ask some techs or do some googling.

+1. Avoid anything PVC, which reacts with nitro finishes.

Go to Cape Rubber in Paarden Island...they have the exact stuff.

I guess your stand looks like a new one after repairing it. It will stand for another 15 years as well ?
