This is great news to me!

While I don't mind paying R90 for an album, I still think with the volume of music being consumed these days, full length albums shouldn't be going for more than R50. I am pretty sure the main cost incurred by the music industry in yesteryear was that of packaging and transport of the physical cd's.
I don't know about that, it's pretty expensive to hire a studio, producer, mix engineer, mastering engineer to get a top quality end product, even with out the packaging etc. Let alone an artist actually getting a cut for their hard work.
Clearly the big artists will save on volumes, since the costs I mention will be diluted, but your smaller artists will most likely struggle with R50 an album - I know we would.
On small volumes CD printing costs around R10-15 per unit, decreasing as volume increases.
