Keira Witherkay and band video of last sundays jazz & blues jam in sandton

this is a fab event and will be held again this sunday at the Brazenhead in sandton cnr linden rd and anne street ....just off grayston starts at 5-30 till about 8 pm this sunday 2nd ....... it's a relaxed jam with the emphasis on jazz and traditional blues......... NO ROCK OR POP (they have a tues evening open mic for that )

it's a place where the jazz and blues muso's can meet and jam ...... bring your guitar and amp (there is ussually 1x spare amp but be safe and bring your own )

i host it , although it is organised by swamp events ,

in the video it's myself on guitar and mark (from the band swamp) who joined us for the blues tunes , the vocalist is my usual vocalist sarah-kate and the drummer is a yopung and tallented graduate from PIT (percussion institute in hollywood USA ) who is a monster behing the kit ...and then my usual percussionist Ian is doubling on percussion in the jazz songs and bass in the blues and fussion songs .......

ps the jam is controlled and time periods are applied if others are wanting to jam ........

firstly thanks for the kind words and yes this sunday the 13th we starting the jam session again ...

And to adrian ... That bass drum young man( i say that envious of your youth ) is a genuine gretch 30's reissue thats what jazz drummers used back in the day ... Btw watch my drummers chops .... He's so talented but worked his butt off and spent 2 yrs earning his qualification from the prestigious PIT In hollywood , california ... And has played with herbie hancock for a gig or two when he was in the usa ... So yes we have a fab connection and hope i can work with him on a few projects.....but yes sarah and ian are awesome too and my regular vocalist and percussionist /bassist i use .....

Anyway we weaving our magic this sunday again from 5 30 pm ... If you wanna jam bring a guitar and amp and come sit in with us ... Brian G from this site wil be a guest this week ...

at conrad ... Hey dude no polish there ... Thats all improv ... My band never rehearses ... We just all know the songs and do what we do live .... And yes i kinda conduct by looks and nods to indicate ends or who's to solo ... But its all just improvised ... Thats our "thing" and no 2 shows or even versions of songs are ever the same .... We just play and what you see is the result ....

that is a crying shame. first, i would've loved to come and watch you guys and the sit-ins. plus, i'm pretty sure sarah-kate is married to an ex-colleague of mine, would've been nice to bump into him if he was also there... keep us abreast of further developments, should they occur, please!
