Bob-Dubery The Guardian gives Mick and Co 4 stars. Talking of Mick, "the other Mick" popped in for a guest spot on Midnight Rambler. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/nov/26/rolling-stones-o2-arena-review

singemonkey Sounds like Mick Taylor was on form. I wouldn't have minded seeing that. He's been a bit lethargic in some of the solo stuff I've seen on youtube so I wasn't expecting to hear such positive things. "Doom and Gloom suggests there's a little more life left in the Jagger and Richards songwriting partnership than their detractors suggest." I think this is actually why the Stone's story pretty much stops in '81. I don't think Jagger and Richards could stand each other enough to collaborate thereafter. Watch the vid for Doom and Gloom and you see Jagger playing guitar and singing, with Keith in the background stonsifying the song. I'd bet a fair bit that Mick came with most of the song and Keef just put some of his trademark open G stuff behind it. In their heyday Jagger would have no more than strum some open chords to accompany a demo of the vocal melody. Frequently Keef would have some amazing guitar and Mick would write lyrics over it. I simply doubt that they've written like that since the late seventies when Keef became sober enough to realise how pissed off he was with Mick Jagger.
