iPad for effects

I know this has been covered before; but technology moves on.

I've got an iPad and bought the whole AmpKit thing.
Been using an iRig type device; but it's fiddly.
Would love something more sturdy in the docking port.

Previous mention has been made of the Alesis io dock.

so ... now I find this list:

... but one of the reviewers on the site already gives away its achilles heel: high latency. Big issue if true.

I do have the alesis dock, it rocks.
I was warned that the line6 mobile aint worth the money, or the app
sucks rather, something like that, did not inspect it myself.

going through the digital in (30 pin) means no feedback, and i suppose the sound is a tad better, not by much though.

so far ampkit is still the better app out there by far, unless a new app i dont know about was released...?!

Got a message that AmpKit Link HD will finally be available at retailers this month.
(presumably they mean in the US).

Well, the most important thing to realise is: if you're going to plug anything into the headphone jack, yer gonna have a bad time. If you want quality approaching what you get in a PC setup, you have to get an interface that plugs into the 30 pin Jack (or the new connection for iphone5 etc.).

I have the guitarjack. It's a great piece of kit, but unfortunately I've not spent enough time working with it yet. I do intend to change that soon. However, the only downside with the guitarjack is the cost. My money would be on the ampkit HD which I imagine will be much better priced if slightly less rugged.
