Small-small Update:

Valve amps are cool. Like, really, really cool. Sean Connery in a tux drinking neat Scotch in a cocktail bar kinda cool. I've gotten a little Laney Cub12R Thursday night and I'm still drooling over it. I've only got a Marshall MG15CDR to compare it to, but it sounds at least 3 times better and is infinitely more versatile. I'd cuddle this amp if my cat wouldn't get jealous ?

Glad to hear. How's the volume management for playing at home? Is the 1W circuit useful?

The key advantage here is that you go straight in hearing how an electric guitar is supposed to sound. Now you've got a good guitar and amp... metronome and scales. Metronome and scales.

The 1W circuit is super useful. Even on full gain it's still sounds quite soft. Or: Turn up the volume and gain to 10 and roll back the volume on the guitar to get some murky vintage sounding tones. I'm still experimenting to find out where this amp sounds the best, but I haven't found a setting where it just sounds like plain ol' crap yet, which is very surprising. I'm just so chuffed at how you can get a full range of tones out of this little amp.

Don't I know it... I knew my technique was bad, but damn. That solidstate of mine did so much to hide it, the Laney is just like "I thought you wanted all that open string buzz!" ☹

Im not sure your what your level of playing is but a mate of mine who is learning guitar downloaded a bunch of this guys stuff and gave it to me on usb.

Was watching it yesterday and while its very simple there was actually one or two things I picked up i didn't know.
My point is , blues is a lot of fun and you can play this stuff all across your gain spectrum for at least 3 hours of getting lost in your new amp.

if you don't find it useful, you can always have a good laugh at this guys stupid hat.

I got mine 2nd hand after I got told of an awesome deal in this thread and several PM's, but it's still a damn good amp for the full (discounted) retail price, in my humble, uneducated opinion ?

But like I said, I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough to tell a good amp from bad, but it's MILES better than what I had and I have not yet heard anyone say anything bad about them.

I'm currently playing one an upgraded Vintage AFD100 Paradise which I got from Alan. Pretty guitar and damned good sounding to my ears.

So what's the game-plan Singe? You invested your pension in Laney and Yamaha stock or something? ?

Some people would argue that one can never be nicely kitted out, the dreaded G.A.S. is an incurable disease and strikes without warning, although it has been observed to strike most often and hardest when you have set aside money for other, arguably more important, things ? (Which reminds me, I have a crackpot theory regarding gear and inspiration I need to write down somewhere) But I do think I have gear now that will last me for some time.

Friendly reminder: New gear will not make you a better player ?

Dude, you wouldn't believe the money I'm making shilling for Yamaha, Laney, and Tokai. Not to mention all the free guitars and 100W amplifier stacks they drop off at my house on a weekly basis.
