Please advise on the correct or best pedal effect order for my revised pedal board. I use this as a direct to PA system?
My current effect order is:
Guitar=> Tuner => Auto Wah => Compressor => OD’s => Tremelo => Volume => Amp Sim (Ethos) => Delay’s => Reverb => DI => House System
I am unsure of the Auto Wah and Comp position – some say it should be reversed and Comp first, but others prefer this method.
I have also tried the Tremelo before and after the Volume pedal but notice that both of these seem to have an effect on the Tremelo Tone (seems to noticeably thin out a bit) from when I have tried it alone directly into an Amp. I have tried this with different volume pedals as well.
On this board would I need any buffer or booster at all (I have an Xotic EP booster but am lacking space on the PedalTrain 2 board)?

Wahs are almost always first in the chain as most work best with a high impedance input and will be loaded down by the effect output in front of it. Auto-Wahs doubly so as they are an envelope filter that works on dynamics - and compressors change the dynamics. A comp after a wah can also help to tame the resonant spike you get in a its sweep.
Your volume is fine, but will affect the drive response of the Ethos (amps and amp sims can be regarded as overdrive pedals in a chain) - if that's what you want, you're golden. If it's not and you just want volume, not volume and drive changes, then put the volume between the Ethos and the delays.

Thanks Alan, I think I will move the volume after the Ethos as suggested.
Where should I place the Tremelo?
AlanRatcliffe
Leave it where it is. With the volume after the ethos, the tremolo should see a constant output impedance and the amp sim should smooth out any rough edges to the trem the same way an amp does.

Thx Alan - will sort it out tonight and complete the pedalboard. My next issue is the Hilton Volume pedal has a seperate power supply (24V) with a straight power plug which needs more space than I have!!! I may have to try the small AMT Loudmouth but the travelk is not fantastic for volume swells. ☹
