I think the best way to do this is a start to end approach, plus I don't have pic's of all my stuff. So here goes. This is a pic of the first 2 guitars I bought 3 years ago. The acoustic is an Ibanez Talman which I bought secondhand and the electric is a Squier Black and Chrome Fat Stratocaster® (Special Edition). It sounded really great and even though it was made in Indonesia, I've gotten tons of compliments on the build quality. I sold the Talman to my nephew last year and gave the Strat to one of the guitarists at our church. They were great while I owned them, but we all have to move on sometime.

I bought two guitars on eBay during the past year: one from the UK, which a friend brought back, and one from Tasmania which was shipped to me. In both cases things went well and I was happy with the purchase. However, it seems to me that one should be careful with some US sellers: some of them seriously underestimate the cost of shipping a guitar internationally (it really can't be done for less than about $200). I won a bit on a Ovation 12 string, and the seller couldn't ship for the $80 that he advertised, so I lost that one and the seller had to refund me - I lost a few rands due to exchange rate fluctuations in the process. There are of course other pitfalls: non-pro guys doing their own mods on a standard strat and trying to pass it off as a custom shop or deluxe, etc. It's best to communicate with the seller and get details while bidding. It's worthwhile to look at the Australian eBay - shipping is not so expensive as from the US.

Ah okay cool. If i buy stuff from the UK it would be fine also. My brother lives there and ill rather get him to either ship it or to bring it with when he visits ?

Where eBay is really useful is in buying accessories especially strings. There are guys who offer great deals, like two sets of strings and 25 free pics, for much cheaper than what it would cost you here. Or two sets of strings and a free chord computer - really cool. The nice thing about these deals is that it is often sent to your mailbox as a letter and you don't pay duties on it. ;D
It just shows how we're often ripped off here - I've seen pics being sold for R10 each locally! Buying strings in bulk also seems worthwhile - you can get a bulk set of 50 Martin acoustic strings for far less than what it would cost you locally.

I haven't played a Taylor or a Larivee, so I can't comment on those, but to anyone who is in the market for a quality guitar, you can't go wrong with a Martin.

So I got my pedal board back from my friend last week and I decided to work on it over the weekend. We hooked up a couple of combinations, but I couldn't make my mind up, so this is what I ended up with :

A pedal mess. The board is too small to fit my DD-20 or my Memory Man plus the other pedals I want on it. Gonna have to sacrifice something. I'm thinking keep the wah of the board. I don't use it much anyway.

I traded my 535Q wah and some cash for a pedal I've been trying to get my hands on for a year now. I've been trying to get a good deal on it of ebay, but most of the guys wouldn't ship to South African and the ones that would ship ended up getting way to expensive. I picked this one up from a guy in Durban.

It's the ZVEX Fuzz Factory. It's the cheaper(If you can call it that) VEXTER version. As far as I've read, there isn't much of a difference between this and the hand painted version. Can't wait to get home and plug it into my board ;D.

And theres more. I got my MIJ DD-2 today. Bought it off a guy in Malaysia. Got it pretty cheap, I think.

I have a few minor mods outstanding, like a Tap Tempo switch for the DD-5 which is going to sit in the right bottom corner next to the WAH, but that's the basic layout. I don't have huge feet so this layout works fine for me.

I was going to go for a true bypass strip, but the board is way too small for that, plus the BOSS pedals don't change your tone much from my experience.

Gonna have to sell of some of my gear to cover the cost.

I dig the pink cubes on a string ?. Dude you have got some serious equipment... dont you find that you dont use half the stuff all the time. I like the idea of few pedals that give you the sound you want. I'm more than happy with my POD XT Live, I dont need anything else ?.

I know! This is what happens when you don't get married and have a decent job. My priorities are pretty screwed up ...
I'm a gear head. I'm trying to decide on what I really want to keep and I'm gonna sell the rest. I've sold a few of my guitars off and I only have 1 left that I don't really need. The problem with my pedals is everything is different in some way or another. I guess I'm gonna have to sacrifice something along the way. Look out for some good deals in the near future.

This pedal is definitely a keeper. Boost and OD pedal in one and it’s pretty light and small so it'll fit nicely on my board. I like the fact that I can get that Marshall crunch without having to buy another amp. BTW I’m selling my AC-30 and Ashdown. I want an Orange amp and I’m willing to make sacrifices to get it >☹

I love having a friend who's a flight attendant. My buddy flew to Washington last wek, so I got him to bring two pedals I bought over for me. I bought these of guys on an american guitar forum and trhey included shpping in the US to the price.

I got my Box Of Rock yesterday and man it sounds awesome. It's classic Marshall crunch in a stompbox. I think I could get away with only this drive pedal on my board. It's got a build it booster as well which works well for lead stuff. It sounds really cool with my duo jet and weeping daemon.

Used it at practice last night. Can't wait to play it at church this weekend ?

I got my BBE Mind Bender Yesterday. My manager was in Las Vegas so I had the pedals shipped to him. Unfortunately my AD9 did not arrive on time and now I have to wait for the hotel to send it back to the guy I bought it from.
I decided to squeeze my Fuzz Factory while I was at it.

What do think of the Mind Bender so far?
My bassist was looking at ordering a BBE Opto Stomp Compressor, so I'm also interested to hear your thoughts on the build quality of the BBE Pedals as well.

I like the analog chorus a lot. It's not as harsh or sharp as the CE-2 and you can get some cool warbly sounds out of it when you kick the depth up. It's not as good as the Analog chorus on my Memory Man, but it's close enough. The vibrato is really nice although it does darken my tone a little. Overall I'd give it a 7/8 out of 10. Build quality feels good and I like the fact that it's a true bypass pedal. I'm probably gonna end up with only 2 or 3 non-TB pedals.

It's just my 50 cents and might sound like absolute rubbish to someone else. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder or something like that ???
