Hey Joey, how much you pay for the Radial PB1 Booster and where did you buy it?

I'm thinking of getting one for myself for the buffer and the boost part of it (tried the MI Audio Boost 'n Buff, but it wasn't my cup of <insert favourite beverage>), but I suppose in SA with a US RRP of $180 it's probably going to be around R1300+ in SA. I'll have to go and speak to the guys at Music Connection.

I see you're using it near the end of your signal chain. I'm currently using a Visual Sound Visual Volume, like you, with the buffer and booster enabled and it works great for both jobs. I have it set at half volume for unity gain and I step on it further for a volume boost. It's just that I'd like to use it more for the volume part of it, and use a seperate booster/ buffer at the end of my signal chain. Plus I like the idea of the drag control.

What are thoughts on it?

I was leening towards the Zvex Super Hard On, but the PB1 was just too good a deal to pass up and I'm pretty happy with it.

Try out thegearpage.net . I've bought a few pedals of guys there. It helps if you have an ebay profile with good feedback.

I actually run the PB-1 first. I haven't played around with it enough. I've been really busy at work and am only getting to play guitar a couple of times a week. On the Visual Volume, my buddy used my board for a concert a couple of weeks ago and he did a comparism with his ernie ball junior VP. He said that the Visual Volume dulled his tone slightly. I'm probably gonna go see him this weekend to jam and test some of my pedals with his amp. Will let you know what the verdict is.

I had the same issue, but it's because you're running the pedal in passive volume mode. Take the bottom plate off the pedal and set the two switches (it explains in the manual) to "on" which will enable the buffer. With that on you tone will improve because the buffer in the pedal is a quality one. There's two adjustment wheels to boost the volume/ gain from unity (at the minimum setting), up to melt your amp with volume!
The reason there's two controls for each setting is because the pedal is stereo. You can leave one channel passive and the other buffered or have more boost on the one than the other etc. Lots of options!

I bought it BECAUSE of all the awesome features and nowdays I just cannot live without the LEDS to show me where the pedal is set.

BTW, the Ernie Ball is cool, but when that cord - yes that's right NYLON CORD - that attaches the pedal to the volume pot snaps during a gig (it's happened to one of my mates - read some of the online reviews as well) you're stuffed. Not bashing it 'cos it's a great pedal, I just see that as a downside.

Didn't know about that either. I bought mine for the LED's. Just love it. Would've thought they could've built it a bit sturdier though. Luckily I'm not that heavy and I don't jump on my pedals.

Agreed, but mine's still held up really well for nearly 2 years now so I'd call it roadworthy. It seems like all the parts that matter are tough even if it does look/ feel a little weak, so that's all you can ask for IMO.

Was bored the other night, so I decided to redo my setup:

I sold my PlanetWaves Tuner to my nephew and I'm ordering the new Korg Pitchblack tuner. The Weeping daemon and pedalboard will be gone in the next week or two as well. Gonna have to get my butt into gear and put my new board together ASAP.

Wow do you power all your pedals with batteries ? Or were you not plugged in on the foto ? Im facing a simialar decision with my pedalboard.

Sounds pretty good to me, for what I play anyway. I loving layering thw TS9 with the Box Of Rock or the Zakk Wylde and kicking in the PB1 for some extra meat.

I'm still using a 1spot. The Box of Rock and the Mind Bender are running on Batteries at the moment simply because my daisy chain only has 9 connectors. I'm gonna order two MC8 connectors since I'm still gonna add an ISP Decimator, an AD-9 and I need to power the LED's on the True Bypass strip.

Here's something to wet your appetite. This is my latest addition:

It's a Duesenberg Starplayer Special. Sells for +- $2000 on ebay. I traded my AC-30 for this , a seven string Ibanez RG (Can't play it, so my buddy is learning how to us it and he's gonna teach me) and an SX Swamp Ash (Just in time for my nephew's birthday). I was happy to swap the amp for just this one, but the guy didn't want to keep them since he doesn't play out anymore. I can't call it anything more than a blessing.

I picked it up on Saturday and played it at church on Sunday. Just my luck, we did almost three full services of praise and worship. I love playing this guitar. Only thing is it's a bit heavy and my shoulder was killing me after. No pain, no gain.

Guitarwhore >☹ Actually, thats about right :-[ I love this stuff. BTW traded my ZVEX Fuzz Factory for a Cusack Screamer fuzz. The fuzz factory was just too insane to be usable, so I opted for the less insane Screamer Fuzz. Nice thing is it has a separate control for the fuzz so you can you use it like a straight forward screamer as well. Just picked it up today. Will post a pic tomorrow, if I get around to it.

It's a sad week for me. I said goodbye to my Black Falcon ☹

It's off to the land of Sheila's and barbie's (Not the doll, you idiot). Played it for the last time at church on Sunday. I'm gonna miss that guitar, but it's destined for greater things. It's gone to a friend of ours who moved their about a year ago. He's a brilliant guitarist/musician and has joined the Hillsongs band and teaches at their colleague. His Jem just doesn't suite their sound, so he had to get a hollowbody. I have a suspicion we'll be seeing it on their next dvd recording.
