True, but also make sure you give your ears a couple of things to listen to before making that decision; go and test some small valve amps with YOUR guitar and see what sounds best.

A 5W is a bit borderline for gigging for many people. It's basically the same as running a simulator system in that you're going to need to mic it up and run it into the PA even in a regular club gig. That's definitely fine and will work brilliantly.

15W-20W though is a great sweet spot where you can use the raw amp volume in even some fair sized venues - only micing up when you get to the kinds of large stages where amps will always be miked up whatever size they are.

I'm tempted to start saving up for "just one more" amp but then I thought - how much is enough if doing a lot of gigs? Does one amp cut it? Agree with most of the above posts , Sell off a few and get a decent valve amp , even the Laney Cub 12 and you wont ever use the others again!
I Have a H & K 100 solid state but otherwise the 15W Laney is a great amp and you can always mic it up ( or line out ) .

Agree 100%. I currently have two SS and one valve amp, and have owned a vintage Vox AC 30 amongst other full valve amps over the years. My best amp of all time remains my trusty early 80s Roland Cube 60W, the vintage one (not the new digital modelling variety, which I am not crazy about). It is sought after by jazzheads, but has performed admirably for me across all genres, and held its own on big stages like Oppikoppi.

To each his own, people are far too quick to write off SS amps in my opinion. Classics like the Roland Jazz Chorus and some of the better Peavey variants take some beating, especially if used with the right pedals and a decent guitar.
