How to Date a really old Epiphone acoustic?

Hi Folks,

I'm trying to find out just how old my Epiphone acoustic is? All I know is its older than me, but outside of that, I don't really know, so I want to try and find out? Is there a website for dating Epiphones? Its an FT-140 (Japan) model, and I love it to bits, but haven't found any more info on it at all.

So after searching hi and low, I've just come across an 'Epiphonewiki' page, whihc suggests it was built between '76 and '79. This means its not quite as old as me if this is accurate? More digging to continue....

I would start by buying her a new set of strings, maybe some new tuners. Complement her on her finish and her tone and then pop the question. She should be in the bag.

Thanks for the link, but according to that site, all Japan built epiphones from 1970 to 1980 are not documented due to 'a lack of verifiable data for that time period'.

And Makepeace, She's been 'in the bag' for a long long time already, but I do treat her nicely! For her next birthday I was thinking of giving her a romantic bathing with essence of lemon oil. ?
