The thing with extremely rare amps such as yours is to keep it as original as possible. New caps/valves, etc are fine...but once you start modding these amps (even recovering it) you destroy the historic value and importance of such ....
Not to be negative, but you may not like the tone of that amp (compared to modern ones). Gibson, unlike Fender and Vox, was never well know for making great sounding amps. I have never heard a Gibson amp, so what I'm saying is just hearsay...... But be as it may, keep it
as is for what it is.
In the antique business it works the same....many a rare piece have been completely bastardized by eg. over cleaning or re-varnishing it....resulting in destroying the value and historic character of it.
