Thats one thing you immediately notice when you come back to live in RSA and im talking instore stuff.
Not necesserily someone attending to you,but more of greed, ignorance and its just a job.
Do I need to comment on telephone enquiries/support?
And just to make sure im not moderated,my views are on a broader general view... not the music retailers
I Just had the pleasure to renew my overseas drivers licence and electrical licences etc on the phone.....it took about as long as someone answering the phone here..Ok thats an exageration....but you know what I mean...chalk and cheese..?

This problem (bad service) is sadly nothing new, but does seem to be getting worse.
On one hand we have the stereotyped staff member who's marking time until the end of the day. I work with youth and there seem to be plenty who have no interest or ambition because somehow life owes them a fat salary and easy ride.
BUT
On the other hand are the employers who don't do anything to encourage either loyalty or enthusiasm in their staff, who pay a d-class salary while demanding an a-class performance, and who trot out the classic "lots of people would love this job" threat on a daily basis. There's not a lot of encouragement for a salesman to put 20 minutes of effort into a sale when he's getting a 1% commission.
