My competition entry started bugging me. It was a bit too familiar. In the end I decided it was a bit too much like this for comfort. But it's a great tune.

And this is AFRICAN, people. Music like this comes from no other continent.

I've got the DVD at home. Must dig it out and have a butcher's. It's sort of a South African counterpart to "Buena Vista Social Club". David Kramer goes on an expedition through the karoo to find guys who still play the old folk music of the karoo.

Very clever. It sounds like two guitarists.

We watched the DVD last night. Karoo Kitaar Blues. A mix of on-stage action with footage of Kramer and Coetzee driving around the Karoo recuiting players. There's a delightful anecdote by an old lady (Helena Nuwegeld IIRC) telling how she learned to play guitar when she was single and decided that she was going to marry another guitarist so that she could play with him rather than play with someone else and have to deal with the suspicion that would likely arise.
