So... Things have been moving rather quickly here, and no sooner did I try out all those lovely amps that I reported back in the other thread, then the very next day, I randomly walked into a guitar shop I have never been into before, and spot what I was looking for sitting in the corner... I looked at the price, and noted it was Already reduced from the list price to the showroom floor price, which was a good R1k or so more than the best price I had been offered elsewhere, so I didn't think much of it....
I then was about to leave, when one of the guys from the shop came to chat... Whillst chatting, I pointed out the amp, and said thats what I'm looking for, but that I could not afford the price on the label, especially since I could get it much cheaper elsewhere, when he mentioned that this particular amp had been in the store a while, so he could let it go cheap.... I laughed to myself, thinking that he'll maybe knock R500 off at best, when he suddenly tells me he could do it for R1600 LESS than their marked down price!! This made it barely more than the used version I was looking to get! I really coudln't believe my luck!
Next hurdle was the cash! I had raised so much of the money, but had been that messed around over other items, including the Orange amp, I had still not raised enough to buy it at this point, so I had to approach the 'better half' to see if we could 'swallow up the difference' until I managed to sell the other stuff. At this point, I was already out of the shop, and about to go fetch my oldest from school.... Thankfully, the missus was supportive, and was able to work some magic.... So I quickly jumped out the car, and so.....
Without further adoo.... I am now the proud new owner of (yes you guessed it) a Vox AC15C1 combo!!! ?
To say I'm over the moon is an understatement! I have to be honest and say that I was starting to doubt that I was going to get this amp, and really couldn't believe that I was blessed enough to see this one for such a bargain! I wasn't able to test it in the shop, so I had to effectively buy it blind, but I wasn't worried since it now had the guarantee, which wouldn't have been the case with the used one. Normally I would plug and test, but I really had to get to the school to fetch my boy.
So first things first, I got it home after agonisingly feeling every bump exaggerated along the long drive around half of Cape Town fetching my boys and finally reaching my home. I plugged it in, and WOW!! Love it!
I'm afraid you won't be able to see pics till tomorrow, as I haven't had a moment to take any yet.
But until tomorrow.....
Cheers

Congrats Big G. You gonna have tons of fun with that amp. Got mine a few weeks ago and am loving it. Sounds way better than many more expensive amps.

Thanks Guys, I've not had a chance to take any pics today, due to various reasons, but I'll get some up as soon as I can.
I'm really enjoying the sound from it though, and did get a little moment earlier to have a quick strum or two. I really look forward to getting this amp in a location where I can crank it a little more!
Don't think it'll quite pull me away form the 'dark side' (bass), but its sure borrowing my interest for a good while!
Anyway, i'll report back more after I've used it a bit more, and have some pics to share!
Thanks again!

Congrats! Was following your other thread with interest BTW. Welcome to the VOX family! ?

Thank you kind sir.... I've always been a huge fan of the Vox sound, and obviously in particular the AC30 family, but never been involved with guitar deeply enough to warrant buying one, but now things are changing a little, and I'm looking at this as investing in whats left of my future to develop and better myself, and inspire my creativity and writing abilities.
Anyways.... More to follow soon I'm sure?
Cheers

Someone got VERY lucky up in Durban. He/she bought a '66 AC30 for
R4500 from the original owner.

I'm trying! Something appears to be wrong with my 'non local' sites, and I am struggling to upload my pictures as a result! I'll get them up as soon as things start behaving as they should! I nearly threw my Laptop through the TV earlier, as it was frustrating me so much!!
And Mr. Vic.... That is unbelievable! Some people have all the luck hey? One day I'll get my AC30! One day! But until then, I'm really enjoying this!
Cheers

very lekker ? enjoy her!
btw, is she a 1x12?
Big-G
Yup... One G12 M Greenback Celestion. I believe there is a 2 x 12" version with the Celestion 'Blues' in there, but they are well out of my league, as is the Hand Wired version! I'm told the hand wired version sounds even better still! Not sure if that has the greenback or blue speaker though, but regardless, the inners are sufficiently different to warrant a big difference in tone.
Either way, I love this amp, and hope to have a suitable axe to pair it with soon? I've been borrowing my friends Epiphone signiture (Joe Perry, Boneyard) which works pretty nicely with this amp, but its not mine, and I want my own to partner with it, so lets see if I have some more news soon? Gotta sell stuff first though!!

one more thing...
you were raving about the PRS SE hollowbody... why arent you considering that??
cheers ?
Big-G
I'd still love one of those, and look to get one in the future, but for the moment, unless I shift a load of the equipment I have here, and pay off all my debts, it will remain out of my reach.
Obviously, if I found one of those for a bargain I'd snap it up, as I would the Epi 'Dot', but the LTD I'm looking at should have the tone I'm after, if its anything like my friends one, which it should be? So we'll see what I get, when I get it.... So many nice bits of gear out there, and too much cash tied up in unsold items to afford them!! Hehe!!

Norman86
and the GAS strikes again! haha!
Cool, was just curious after reading your posts ?
good luck for the future! and many happy new gear acquisition days ?
