The Challenge Nov/Dec 2013

Renesongs · 2012-11-05T11:21:55+00:00

This Months Challenge, to quote Adrian: "This months challenge is a call back to our roots. More specifically our African roots. We are South AFRICANS after all and I believe it's important to play the music of our continent. So I will leave this challenge somewhat open; so long as it is AFRICAN" This will be the last Challenge of 2013. As we are all aware South Africa starts shutting down for Christmas around 16 December and reopens sometime in February, so the deadline for submissions to be PM -ed to me is 10 December 2013. Entries can be up to 2min long

Garth-S

I was thinking of something along the lines of Jimmy Dludlu! ?

FruitarGeek

Mine isn't done yet. But it is coming along

Hammeron

Got my ditty, just need to transport it into cyberspace.

Got some good ideas down on my loop station, but as usual my total ineptitude at recording kills my will to enter.
Lets see if I can figure out how to make a Cubase recording that sounds less like ass >☹

I've done one GFSA entry by building the piece up on a loop station, then plugging the LS into an amp and recording from the line out jack on the amp.

Didn't think of that ? I will give it a go and see how it sounds.

All my other entries were recorded, mixed and somewhat produced by a good friend who is not available at present.
This one I recorded on my ipod Touch! So you'll have to cut me some slack like!

Hammeron

OK, got mine on Mp4 at 605 kb. Is that cool or should I try to convert to Mp3?

As long as we/I can press play and listen, it should be fine

Hammeron

Well, for better or for worse, mine is up. ?

FruitarGeek

Alright, my track is done. Rather African too methinks

Hammeron

With all due respect you had the 10th December as the deadline.

Norman86

with all due respect, there were only 2 entries, it was finished, just not submitted.
i really cant see why it should be an issue then.

if there were 10 entries maybe we could have complained, but 2? seriously?

AlanRatcliffe

Yeah, it was late and Adrian paid for his mistake by missing out on early voters.

But these are fun "challenges", rather than serious competition. You should use them to learn from others as much as anything else, so the more the merrier. Anyway, the great lord mod (Renesongs) is the final arbiter, so if he said it's OK, then it is OK.

FruitarGeek

Thanks for sticking up for me fellas ?

Tamla, I do take full responsibility. I am human, and hence forgetful, I'm sure your time will come ?
But I did plead my case to Rene, and even gave him the option to disable voting for my track, this is about the challenge not the votes IMO. Heck, I didn't even vote my track, I gave Arno the vote
