Thanks for the compliment Bottledtone 8) top side jacks on a 1590B are a mission, but you'll find if you shave down any plastic jacks, it's a comfortable fit.
Do they have 125B's at Communica? They're slightly bigger than the 1590B and much easier for topside jacks.
Anyone who's unsure of Tubes vs Transistors (solid state) check out this brilliant research paper:
http://www.archive.org/download/http://archive.org/details/TubesVersusTransistors-IsThereAnAudibleDifference
I read it a while ago, but essentially it says the way in which a Tube distorts is different to Transistor distortion because of the difference in harmonics created. Tube distortion not only sounds louder but also more pleasant to the ears.
Tubes totally have soul ?
As to BottledTone's comments, I often feel disappointed when I read further into something (such as the Pharoh Fuzz) and find out it's a direct copy of something else. Changing a couple of values does not mean you can say it's
inspired by a certain pedal. If it's a Big Muff, say its a Big Muff with more bass, mid control etc.
Obviously normal advertising is fine eg "great sound, the perfect tone", I'm just saying that I have come across certain pedals where information can be misleading and proper disclosure would be better.
At the same time, there is a very fine line - for example a TubeScreamer consists of dual opamp, soft clipping diodes, mids emphasis and a specific tone control. Does that mean any circuit with the same characteristics is automatically a ripoff of the TubeScreamer? I think it's very hard to call sometimes. Especially because guitarists like certain sounds (tubeScreamer) so you want to provide them with those sounds.
