MIJ Tokai coming soon

I planned on taking the plunge next year and buy myself a Les paul. The plan was to buy a proper Tokai or a Gibson if the price was right. And then suddenly an ad appeared of a beautiful MIJ Tokai Love Rock in Knysna for a steal. I gave the seller a call and asked him some strategic questions to ensure that the guitar was what he said it was. I also asked for a picture of the serial number. From the pix and description the guitar is in mint condition! The guy was very patient with all my questions and seemed to know alot about that particular guitar, but not much about guitars in general. The only thing he could tell me(And the only thing I could make out from the pix) was that it is a MIJ Love Rock. It appears to be an old LS-90 (now LS-92). An interesting side note is that when I checked the Tokai Registry for similar serial numbers, I saw that the other guitars with very close numbers were LS-150's... But I'm not counting on it The serial is 09211XX I contacted TokaiSA and asked his advice. He told me that the price is a steal (Especially since it includes an original hard case) So after moving some money around and doing everything I could to make sure that I wasn't being scammed, I transferred the money and arranged with a courier company to collect the guitar from his office. He took the liberty of wrapping the guitar case in bubble wrap to make sure it doesn't get damaged and I have just received confirmation from the couriers that the package had been collected from him in Knysna. The package is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. I will keep you guys posted and I will take some pix once I have her. Its like an early Christmas!! ?

I was going to ask you to check whether it has a one piece back. But Lance knows the guitar, so there you go. Mine has all the vintage features I always craved, and is the most resonant LP I've played.

Mine also has the vintage-style nickle plated hardware, so it's also corroded enormously with the heavy playing I've subjected it to. Of course that just makes it more like the '50s guitars that I fell in love with in the first place.

Jump up and down, you just scored an LS150/160...at the current exchange rate, retail about 27.5K.

I remember that particular guitar, it has those two grain 'lines' running from the back towards the tailpiece...how can I forget that guitar, it was one of the coolest/unusual book matched grains I ever got.

Change your signature, it's not a LS90, it's a 160. ?

Once I'm done with all of the stuff at varsity its the long holiday before work starts! So I'll let you know!
