Im gunning to upgrade to an amp with lightbulbs. No clue what im looking for so anyone know if they will allow us to demo stuff?

Me too - after the same thing. Not sure if demos will be manageable, guess it all depends on the crowds

Nice! I am not a businessman but to me it would make business sense to allow it, or at least have one day designated to trying stuff out. I want to go today to demo stuff and if i like anything pull the trigger tomorrow but eish, i am at the point that if i try an amp today ill fail university tomorrow. Anyway, what were you hoping to demo?

Not likely. I asked to demo an amp at the last TOMS sale in Braamfontein and the salesguy just laughed.
I ended up buying a Class5 without demoing it (@ 2K it was too good to pass up).

First thing is to figure out what you are gonna use it for, and then do some research on the forum to find out what the different options are (or if you post your requirements and budget I'm sure someone here will give you good advice).

Main thing to remember is that power ratings for tube amps are totally different to solid states. I have a cube 80 (80W Solid State) and a Marshall Class 5 (5W tube) and I would say the Marshall is louder.

I have few things in mind but of course i want to try them out which is the real problem. For example, i want to demo a cub12r next to a tsa15 next to a blues junior. I mean, if the tsa15 or even a class5 speaks to me then ill get it, if a blues junior resonates the most with me ill probably dig further and hopefully be able to afford it. I would think that its just one of those things you have to experience. Hmmm, who needs varsity ey...

TOMS Braamfontein didn't allow me to demo pedals when I was there on the Sunday of their last sale, but they don't have the floorspace of Sandton, so I could be wrong.

I would give the Sandton store a call today to find out about the valve amps they expect to have available, do some research tonight, and then go in to buy tomorrow/Saturday.

And remember the advice singemonkey gave in his article on buying your first guitar rig: get an amp with a 12" speaker. It does make a difference if you're going to gig with it.

Does make business sense, but it really depends how busy the floor is. It can simply be logistically impossible. I was at the sale in Braamfontein, and it was complete mayhem.

Went there today to scout, it's gonna be insane. Got my eye on a TS15 aswel. I'm going to be the first thing when they open. I didn't see any Cub 12, though.

I don't see why you can't demo, just sit down, grab what you want and go for it.

I wonder who's gonna be the first guy to grab the used Hughes & Kettner (can't remember the model) for R3500.00. ?

They should have Ibanez Prometheans there. The 3115 combo's a steal at the normal price so if he can pick one up with sale discount he'll be laughin'.
