Picked this up yesterday - its a 1970s Hofner model 173. A very interesting guitar - I love the pups, the sliding switches and the cool tremolo system.
I figured it would be a nice restoration/refinish project as it was spray painted black and silver ???
But there are a couple issues right off the bat. I need a new bridge, and I can get an original off eBay - great! Apart from the fact that its R900, almost twice what I paid for the guitar. Its an odd size - 93mm from post to post, as opposed to 73mm on my tele... any ideas? And then the neck has been glued into place... not too much of a biggie as its pretty straight and quite a nice neck actually, just from a sanding and finishing point of view it would be easier if I could remove it.
This is what its supposed to look like, but I am thinking white with a black pickguard and the silver hardware would look good 8):
