Hi Peeps

I was so happy to find this forum. So much interesting stuff.
I'm Garth from Durban (hence my nickname ?), I have been
playing the guitar for 6 years now. Mostly play at church now
but I used to play in a band called Malachi where I was the
youngest member by at least 15 years ?, those were great
times!

My gear consists of a Squire Affinity Series Strat which I have
just started modifying, An Ibanez SZ520QM (awesome geet)
and an Ibanez Talman Acoustic-Electric. I also have a Line6 POD XTL
and a Peavey Valve King 112 combo amp.

I have just caught the guitar mod bug, and am really interested
in recording aswell. I just recently got a BOSS BR600 digital
recorder (what an amazing device), and am so happy with it.

I look forward to sharing and learning with you guys.

How much was the pedal? Can you post pics? I want something like that really badly.

How many recording channels does it have?

Hey Norio Check out the attached pic. There are loads of features, check it out --> http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/BR-600/ It has 8 tracks (4 mono 2 stereo) plus a rhythm track for all the drum samples it has. Its an amazing little thing (smaller than an A4 page) :)

Oh I forgot, it also has stacks of guitar amp models and effect ?
You only need a computer to export the .WAV file to, and you do all the mastering etc onboard.
It's easy to use once u read the manual.

Looks awesome! How much did it cost you?

Can you record 2 guitars (with different sounds) at the same time using the on-board modelling or do you need to use your own amps?

It cost me R3600. It's a steal for what it can do.

There is only 1 guitar input so that poses a problem, but what you can do is use the guitar and mic input simultaniously, using the onboard effects for the guitar input, and your own pedal/amp setup through the mic.. I still need to try it out, but I have recorded acoustic like that, with the guitar plugged in, and mic'd up at the same time, it came out great.

That's not bad at all.

I think I'll get me one this year. I can't stand having to mess around with my PC when I want to record. Once I have a dedicated machine for that it might be cool but an all-in-one laptop just doesn't cut it ?

You won't be disappointed. I must tell you though, you'll have to buy the BOSS power supply separately, and the device works on compact flash memory (like a digital camera). It comes with a 128MB card, but thats not quite enough, so you'll have to get a 1gig from a camera shop. So thats about another 550 bucks.
