I'm loving the s3. I can't comment on the iPhone anyway.
Good luck with that choice. It depends in what you want to use it for in the end...

I also have the iPad so garageband and ampitube is on there for my music needs.. Samsung S3 is just abit too big, one handed use seems uncormftable? Any comments on that? Iphone5 i consider not that awesome if its not jailbroken.. And jailbraking voids the warranty if you need to fix it and cant restore it.. Anyone have comments on ease of use on the samsung? The iphone is byfar the easiest phone ive ever used.. Took me a hour max di know exactly how to do everything on the phone?

I have huge hands, so the S3 fits nicely for me. It has a few annoying bits like the "back" button is very sensitive and if I'm operating with my right hand I tend to touch it a lot.
I find there are some amazing features, like the motion sensitivity, the front camera also monitors your eyes so if you're looking at the screen it doesn't dim. The GPS is insanely good and the other map software you can get with it is cool too.
It all boils down to use. as stated here, if you want Garage band, then apple. (although I'm gonna get me an ipad for that) if you want maps, definitely Android.
if you want it for Photos and images maybe go for the iPhone, samsung is good, but the iPhone is better.
web browsing on the Samsung is great too. I have Chrome on mine and it's great. Apple doesn't like flash.... etc etc
I could go on.

Yeah.. I've said it before, but the best way for anyone to decide is to go to a shop and try both out. They are so similar that it finally boils down to the software - android vs iOS.

I honestly dont think ill be dissapointed by either one.. Ill be happy either way.. Anyone know the price difference between these two? That could be a dealbreaker for either model

The iPhone 5 prices aren't known on contract yet. But the iPhone 4S was a bit cheaper than the Galaxy on Vodacom.

I'm getting the Galaxy SIII in January. I've been using both a Nokia N8 and an Iphone 4S lately. Have spent some quality time with a Galaxy SII as well... I'l keep the Nokia for its Camera and GPS functionality but for my needs I already prefer the SII to the Iphone 4S... From what I've gathered, The technological jump from the SII to the SIII is significantly more than the jump from the Iphone 4S to 5 which makes it a very easy decision for me... Both are great mobile devices. Larger screen and better performance outweighs the cosmetic advantage the iphone has. Once secure in its Otterbox, they all look the same anyway except for the screen size...

Better in performance? Better on paper tells a small story...

I have the very first Galaxy S (due for upgrade early in the new year) The only reason why I took it originally was that it was a lot cheaper than the iPhone and that will probably be the deciding factor once again.
Also, I reckon the only reasons for considering these devices are geek and cool factor. If I'm honest, I mostly use my phone to listen to music and for social media... :-[

Depending on how much experience you have with different brands and OS's, the specs can tell you a lot in fact...
Both these devices are powerful, each offering more power than the average user will ever need... I preferred the performance of the SII to the performance of the i4S. (Both great devices.) I'd only recommend one or both after I've spent enough time with them both to form a first-hand opinion... Based on previous experience and current specs, I prefer the one with the big screen and I'm sure I'm going to love its performance as well... Nothing wrong with the i5, just not my first choice...

I don't think that does much good. You need to live with these things to find out if they work for you.

its another ecosystem, another consideration! ?
personally, im not a fan of android.. i have it on my tab and its not the best i ever had.
ios.. well.. im not a fan...
wm8... personally, im waiting for an E7 type lumia with a built in keyboard, to replace my E7.
but im optimistic for wm8 myself! especially on a nokia!
the 920 really just needs a hardware keyboard version!
