had the pleasure of playing a Fender eric johnson signature stratocaster

today i had the amazing pleasure of playing on an eric johnson signature Fender stratocaster ...

wow i was suitably impressed....... and yes it has a few odd features but i guess i love odd.....

the neck was really fat and rounded and was easy to play .............loved it .........

however the neck was bound in white binding ....mmmmmm eric whats with that ? i thought that very odd

also the headstock was "shaved" so thinner than normal and with no string tree's again an oddity but one i liked

it had custom wound pups to eric's specs....and they sounded awesome very much to my liking

wow what a players strat ...... very easy to play and it sounded great

my only dislike was the binding .......... it just looked wrong ........... ? but if i was offered one 2nd hand i'd snap it up ............

what a pleasurable experience playing that guitar

I've never played the rosewood board one with the binding, but have played the earlier maple board model (no binding). Simply the best production line Strat ever IMO.

I kinda like the binding. Apparently his first guitar had binding so he stuck with it. Amazing tone don't you think?

Not so amazing price... ???

btw the guitar i played belongs to a fellow forum member ...... and wow it blew me away .... he's got a gem here .......

here are some specs i found online ..... tho my "liking" of this guitar has nothing to do with specs (maybe it does ? )but i like it cos it just played and felt so 100% right the minute i picked it up not cos it looked good on paper
