Hi guys,
I was hoping my first post would be something a bit cooler than this but...
Do any of you have any idea what a late 70s charvel/Jackson USA 55OM is worth? I have been looking online but I cant find anything older than an early 1990's model. The lady selling it claims that it is this old and I haven't had a chance to try and check the serial number so i can't verify this.
Thanks for your help lads,
?

Never heard of a 550. If it's supposed to be an original San Dimas Charvel, then be careful - a lot of fakes around (later Jap models with fake US neckplates). Maybe check it out on one of the fan sites. And get pics...

Thanks Alan, I'm planning to go check it out over the weekend. Think I'll probably find a site mentioning what to look out for with these. I already heard that the USA neckplates are only legit up to a certain number because the company sold excess neck plates to the japs at some point. Anyway I'll keep everyone posted and put up some pics as soon as I get a look at it.

Not entirely accurate. The Japanese model series all had USA plates, fort worth Texas to be exact. Nothing sinister about that. A key differentiator isgoinghe serial, does the neck have a skunk stripe? And that early would be a strat head too, although a pointy can't be ruled out.
Also, you need to be clear on is it charvel or Jackson. Logo is also a tell tale. Post pics please

Didn't get a chance to check out the guitar this weekend due to gigs and exam prep but I'll try to get there this week and post some pics asap. Thanks for all the advice.
