Very good... I like it. I love the Afrikaans song "Resolusie". Hopefully that song makes it big this close to new year and everyones resolutions for 2009.

Oh my.... I really do feel a bit stupid for only seeing this thread now. We should have a red-face smiley for moments like these... Like I said in an earlier post I try to swing by here as often as I can, but sometimes I'm just too busy and a week or two goes by (like the last week while I was in my studio +/- 12 hours each day producing for my good buddies Skuim, and also gigging at the KKNK during some of the evenings). I was searching for a review of our album and this came up in the results.
Thanks for the kind words guys. I know it's a bit late, but I still really appreciate it. I'm very pleased with how the album has been doing. It's even made us some new fans outside of SA. We're working on the whole video-thing at the moment, but they're expensive so we're doing our best.
This past week we also released a CD-version of the album at the KKNK. Lots of folks have been asking us to release a CD-version. Reasons for this are that some would still like an actual CD that they want to buy from us to support us that way or because some folks just don't have the means to download it yet. So we decided to sell the CD's for a minimal fee at gigs and from our website for those who want one, but to still allow folks to download the whole album (and the previous one) from the website for free. We also stopped using SoundClick (although the songs are still on there) because folks had to sign up for all kinds of stuff to download the album and we want to make it as hassle-free as possible. So all the songs are now hosted from our website.
Anyway, just wanted to say a big thanks. ?
EDIT: Just saw we do actually have one, so :-[

Hey Jo
Kudos on having the balls to distribute your music for free. If I ever finish anything, I'm planning on doing the same. ? Also great that you're making it available from your own website instead of letting someone else reap the benefits.
I'm one of those that while I listen to mp3s most of the time, still prefer to have a CD. It's the ultimate backup, plus you have the artwork and you are supporting the band - even if you can't get to the gigs. So yeah, it's a good thing to have a CD for sale too. Maybe just punt it more on your site, as while you're not planning on making your living from CD sales, it is an additional revenue stream and every bit counts. Who knows? It could possibly become a major one - especially if you keep the prices low.
Good luck with it!

Thanks Alan. Yes, distributing the music for free was just something I just felt was right. Some people still raise their eyebrows when we tell them about it, but to be perfectly honest: It's opened a number of doors for us that would otherwise not have opened. These are all worth more than cash to us at this point.
It is suprising how many folks still want the CD's. It's great to have such loyal support. We're not gonna charge a lot for the CD's - like R50 or so. It is a nice bit of extra income while we basically just save whoever buys them the hassle of downloading and give it to them in a nicer package. So everybody wins, hopefully.

Its actualy a good strategy. Get everyone hooked on the first album, and by the time the 2nd one comes out, you've already got your crowd that's willing to spend money on your music.
