Another Boss MutliFX

I'm not sure I'm impressed by this. Some of the sounds are cool. but it seems to be aimed at the one man/ cover band scenario.

Came out at Winter NAMM, IIRC (I said they were due for a new one last year, so I was expecting it). Kind of slipped under the radar thanks to the Fender Mustang floor and other goodies like the Kemper and Axe-FX II.

IMO, the Boss units have always excelled at the covers thing - for those that could be bothered spending the time learning how to use them and programming them. While they may not nail classic amps and FX as well as some of the competition, there's not much you can't do with them and they sit in a preprogrammed mix really well. The only difference here is they seem to have taken the time to program in a lot of sounds specifically for the cover player. It's a welcome change, given their haphazard approach to in the past - usually a bunch of overblown effects-laden sounds that demonstrated the capabilities but didn't leave the lazy "preset player" much that was usable.

That being said, I haven't tried one yet...

are you keen to?

This has a whole lot more than my GT8 does. I'm not sure if I want to stay with the GT though. I'm certainly not playing enough to warrant more gear.

Not personally, no (I'm in a rack phase again). Although I will give it a go sometime just to see.

Quite honestly, I don't see any feature improvement over the GT-10 (which was in itself a marginal improvement over the GT-8). Mostly the big double screen, a simpler user interface and improved patches. They do make reference to an improved COSM engine, but I'm not hearing it in the clips and videos, so the jury's out until I actually try one.

I'm certainly not playing enough to warrant more gear.

Since when does that stop us. ? Anyway, I'm in favour of better gear over more gear.

Sounds like rubbish to my ears. Maybe it is the recording or something, but the previous generations sounded better on demos IMO!

Haha, nice.

I reckon this might provide a flipping great solution for cover bands. I like the USB part of it. I edit the GT8 with MIDI but it's a mission.

That's where the GT-Pro is nice...

What we do need is another Digitech GNX4 type of thing or go the Kemper way in a multi floor pedal thing..
