Setting a Strat Tremolo system

Does anyone have guideline for setting a Strat tremolo system. Its the vintage style system.
I cannot seem to get the tension right as I want the Bridge to lie flat not be raised.
Been busy on a rebuild took a Mex strat, stripped it down, have resprayed with Nitros and reassembled. Guitar looks and sounds gret just final adjustments required.

Not sure i understand the question right so forgive me if my answer not correct.

In order to "deck" the system ,open up the access panel at the rear and screw in the screws holding the system in place (clockwise). There are 2 screws. once screwed in this will deck the tremelo system.

...and don't tighten the screws on the top too much or you'll never get the plate to lie flat.

... and only tighten the two screws enough to get it "decked".
May have to go through a few iterations of tightening the screws; retuning guitar; then adjusting again ... until the tremelo is just touching the body.
(The strings are pulling the trem in one direction; the screws & springs are pulling it in the other).

Or before screwing any screws, add more springs if you have 2 or before3

Got it sorted thanks for the info on setting the Trem, guitar worked out nicely will post pics.
